National Hospitality Institute

The National Hospitality Institute (NHI)® is a non-profit educational foundation focused on safe, responsible, efficient and effective management in the hospitality industry. Created by sellers and servers of beverage alcohol, NHI offers programs developed from the unique perspective of industry veterans and insiders.

Understanding the need for comprehensive training with unwavering standards, members of the Michigan Licensed Beverage Association set out in 1982 to create an effective, efficient course aimed at making their employees the best at what they do. Techniques of Alcohol Management (TAM)® was created by those industry leaders, people who’ve worked first hand in licensed establishments for years.

Over the next 25 years, that basic server training course has grown into the National Hospitality Institute (NHI)® and spawned specialized, in-depth courses of the same outstanding quality covering all aspects of the bar, restaurant and retail alcohol business.

NHI® is a 501(c)(3) non-profit corporation.
