Our members have had a great time meeting with and sharing lunch with their legislators. Our members set up 110 personal meetings with 39 different legislators.
Meeting with legislators is important. The hospitality industry has been a target for legislators in the past because licensed beverage businesses are easy to criticize.
To combat special interest groups hoping to tarnish our image, we’re obligated to meet with representatives and senators to depict the real image of a small business owner in this industry.
Our association is made up of a diverse mixture of liquor licensees with their own unique problems, but we also have industry-wide issues that need to be addressed. Legislators can only see how significant these issues truly are to us if they hear it from a large, unified voice.
The MLBA is working hard every single day to ensure that your voices are heard by the appropriate parties.
However, once a year, it is a powerful move to gather our members in Lansing and show our strength in numbers.
