Redistricting Commission Participation

Members,

We hope that you are staying safe and healthy during this ongoing crisis. We continue to appreciate the great work you are doing and know that you are eager to get back to work – safely and smartly – and begin the important work of moving our economy forward. As we continue to work through this crisis, we must also be mindful of the opportunities that will present themselves in the future. To that end, we want to highlight a public service opportunity for you and your employees to consider.

The state of Michigan is currently soliciting and accepting applications from individuals to serve on the new Michigan Citizens Redistricting Commission. The Commission – created with the passage of Proposal 2 of 2018, also known as the “Voters Not Politicians” proposal – is tasked with drawing state and federal legislative district boundaries following the 2020 census.

The new legislative boundary lines drawn by the Commission will go into effect beginning with elections for state House, state Senate and Congress in 2022.

We are writing today to strongly encourage you to personally apply – and to widely and broadly encourage others connected with our organization to apply – to serve on the Commission.

As part of this newly created Commission, 13 registered voters will be randomly selected to serve through the application process. Ensuring responsible, pro-liberty, pro-freedom, and pro-rule-of-law voices are represented on the Commission will not be possible unless those individuals apply to serve.
