Please be aware that if the Michigan state budget is not agreed to by the end of September, government functions that are not considered “essential” will halt their services beginning Oct. 1 — this includes the Michigan Liquor Control Commission (MLCC).
The MLCC would stop accepting orders for spirits if the government shuts down, so we would advise licensees to prepare accordingly.
Governor Whitmer and Republican leaders disagree on a handful of crucial topics, which means a government shutdown is possible, but not a certainty.
We will keep you updated on this issue as we learn more information.
Thank you very much.
